Getting out of Sheffield Lake and shacking up with Caprice! Nothing has actually changed, except now I will not be paying $850/month for a place to keep my mail and furniture. I've slept there 4-5 times this year. Holy shit is that stupid of me.
So, whilst packing up all my belongings, I've come to realize how unattached I am to "stuff". There is very little that I need to get by or keep me happy. My laptop, a firearm for home defense, some sentimental items, toiletries, and clothing. I guess some cooking equipment as well. And this remote control...just kidding. It was a nice reminder that I'm not a "consumer". I could easily just leave everything in that apartment and never see it again.
The Pup is getting old :( She's not as feisty as usual over the last few months, though she still has moments and is still the best watch dog ever, but her hips seem to bother her more often and she's getting some serious gray hair. Aren't we all lol.
My friend Ray is recovering from his 5th brain surgery. Wow. Just over 2 years ago he was diagnosed with brain tumors, and they keep popping back up, which I guess is common with his type of cancer. Sucks ass, but he has remained pretty strong throughout. I hope he sticks around for many more years.
Speaking of Ray...go Browns! They are 2-0 in the preseason and looking tight! Best they have looked in years. (This sounds familiar) I actually have hope this year. They are being picked as the team to watch/make a move. They have some talent and should have a much better season than 5-11 if they can stay healthy. Me and Caprice are going to the home opener, 1 other game together (October), and I'll probably go to 1-2 others either with my brother or just with the other season ticket holders in the group.
Work sucks for me this time of year, and this year it's twice as bad. We were without power in several buildings many times over the summer. Custodians yank equipment out of classrooms and NEVER reconnect anything properly, creating dozens of additional tech tickets. Teachers (most of whom have masters degrees) can't remember their passwords after having the summer off. They also expect us to drop whatever huge project we're working on (in this case, several PC labs, totaling about 100 computers) and come to hook up their computer to the projector (or speakers, or network, whatever the case may be), a job they can do in 2 minutes. Of course they need it NOW!!!! I have to have this by tonight!!! Waaahhhhh!!! Every freaking year. Ugh. Oh well, it's my 16th year, I've learned to tell them "you have 56 tech tickets in front of yours, we'll get there ASAP". Puts it into perspective a bit.
Meanwhile, the weather has been fantastic lately. Got some kickball in Friday night and a bike ride on Sunday. Packed up about half my apartment on Saturday.
Oh, almost forgot about camping last weekend! Had fun but I woke up Saturday morning with a chest cold. 5th in 10 months or so. Didn't last long, but still. Grayday got life-threateningly drunk (as he does every camping trip) and Chaz had a killer hangover Sunday. Lots of pics and video were posted to FB by the others. The jambalaya was a big hit. Won around $150 playing $.25 poker. Good times.
